
Dr Toby Edmunds is a Consultant in Pre-hospital Care, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, where he is Cross-site Critical Care Lead for Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital. He is the section editor of Waveform PHEM.
He also works with Magpas Air Ambulance and chairs the Royal College of Emergency Medicine’s pre-hospital group. He trained in the North of Scotland.
Toby is a leading voice in point-of-care ultrasound. He has brought POCUS into both pre-hospital and hospital systems, with a focus on governance and education, and works with Butterfly Network. That includes his time with the East Anglian Air Ambulance, where he led on ultrasound and the safe use of handheld devices. His research covers cardiac arrest, ambulance dispatch and ultrasound.
He is a committed educator. He runs EMCC Courses, and was nominated for a trainer award at the 2026 FICM awards.
He has strong digital experience from his time as the Trust’s Chief Clinical Information Officer, when he led clinical input into the electronic patient record.
